In order to insert my tampon easily, is it okay to put olive oil on the applicator?

will i get any infections? In order to insert my tampon easily, is it okay to put olive oil on the applicator?
Tampons themselves cause infections, tampons are bad for vaginal health and commercial tampons (e.g. Tampax) are the most harmful of over twenty different menstrual options. If concerned about infections you may want to consider a safer menstrual option such as menstrual cups.

Tampons themselves are absorbent wads of material being put into a moist delicate area where bacteria breeds thus causing vaginal splitting and giving bacteria and yeast a good place full of nutritious menstrual blood to multiply upon. Commercial tampons are made from super-absorbent materials that add to the issues mentioned in the first point, but also contain bleach and chemicals that are unnecessary and contribute to infections by affecting vaginal PH, in turn affecting natural bacterial and yeast balance.

As for the olive oil, that in itself shouldn't cause an infection, many women use it as a natural lubricant, in fact it is beneficial because it is slightly antifungal, although the issue I'd see with this is that because tampons cause vaginal splitting olive oil may cause some discomfort. In order to insert my tampon easily, is it okay to put olive oil on the applicator?
I don't agree at all! Tampons are a safe and affordable way to handle your period when you need to swim, play sports, etc. They are a woman's best friend. Why spend money on these ';cups'; that do the same thing? Report Abuse

TRY C*M
Leave olive oil for dinner tonight.

Listen, tampon should slide in just fine providing you relax and providing you get the right angle. It takes practice. Use the ones with an applicator, more hygienic and easier to use. There are different sizes, perhaps super is too big for you, try the mini first just so you get used to the feel and get to know the exact angle where it needs to go. At first wear san towels combined with tampons until you get it right. I remember years and years ago when I first tried them, I couldn't get it right straight away. Tampon is inserted properly when one part of the papery bit clicks in the other part, and you shouldn't feel it when you sit down. Its much better than sani towels especially in this hot weather when its sweaty. Good luck, keep trying
are you serious?? i wouldnt.. use spit.. or vasiline.. or love lubrication of some sort... not oil... chocolate sauce... jam.. marmalade... ha ha..
NO! First off, the oil will reduce the efficiency of the tampon. Second, it will cause an infection. Don't put anything up there that shouldn't be there.
I wouldnt use olive oil no, i think it will give you an infection. Use KY Jelly if anything! You can now buy tampons that have a lubricant on the applicator, or maybe try ones without the applicator.
duh why do people ask questions they know the answer to your making your self look llike a fruit cake!
please don't put olive oil anywere near down there lol
KY jelly is a better option. It's meant to go up your front bum ya know, not your bottom!!
Only if it is extra virgin. :)

Couldn't resist

I did a quick search. I believe olive oil and tea tree oil are actually used as a natural treatment for yeast infections so it's probably okay.
eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww thats disgusting
no
if u put anythin on it to slide it in easy then ur masturbating with it !!!
No more olive oil girl... That's not good. They do tell you you can use petroleum jelly or KY jel
r u crazy!!!??? NO they are not made to have anything put on them.....just relax %26amp; use a bit of water if anything PLEASE!!!
R u MAD?
What to talk about Olive Oil, No oil or oil based lubricant is recommended since its never safe. Water based lubricant is recommended for the purpose.

But the best is, NOT to go for such practices.

Have patience for real pleasure in live sex.
I don't see why it would cause any infections as long as it's straight out the bottle. But it would probably be better to use something like vaseline or KY jelly.
Normal vaseline will do. But dont see why you cant use olive oil.
The best thing to use is VASELINE. I was advised this was the safest by my GP as it contains nothing that can irritate skin or cause any problems whatsoever.

I found after a couple of days i had no problems and could do without as i relaxed more, also make sure you push it up as far as possible, don't worry it cant go anywhere but if you dont it will be really uncomfortable as you will be able to feel it. if you cant feel it then it is in correctly.

Oh and make sure you wash your hands before and after.

Just 1 more thing, you can buy them with vaseline already on, so this proves that this will not cause you any trouble.http://www.lil-lets.com/products/extra-c鈥?/a>

Hope this helps.
use ky jelly. this works very well because it is designed for that and will easily dissolve. do not use olive oil this is not designed for ';down there'; and will irritate you!
..
i wouldnt...... it would be to slipery and the tampon may slip eaither in to far or out
why not get pre lubricated product?
you could try Vaseline or KY jelly from chemist they are OK for down stairs
only if you're a man.
I would not use olive oil. Try K Y Lubrication
in order to insert tampon just lift you leg on toilet and insert no need for olive oil if you are still having problems get ky jelly which is designed for that.
That is seriously Gross. I hope you are not considering using that same bottle for use in the kitchen too. Eeeeewwwww.

If you ever want ANYONE to come over for dinner EVER again Keep that question to yourself Rebbecca.
No. Do not do that. If it is really uncomfortable, try a different brand or size, or do not use tampons.
go 4 it
