Can you use olive oil to deep fry in?

i have a bunch of first cold pressed olive oil... can i deep fry my onion rings in it?Can you use olive oil to deep fry in?
NO! don't do it! it's all about smoke point.

if you can afford it, always fry in peanut oil. it is expensive. next best is canloa, then vegetable oil.

keep your oil clean. if it gets black, cloudy, or ';funky'; - time for new oil.Can you use olive oil to deep fry in?
No. Olive oil has a very low burning point for deep frying. The best oil(s) are peanut and canola.
NO.NO.NO!! Just like the other person said,it has a low burning point.Use canola/peanut oil. Even the mildest olive oil, can, or should, only be used for saute,or dressing. When you saute, put your food in first, then drizzle your olive oil.
nay
The only thing that you can deep fry in Olive oil is oily fish. You must be rich to waste olive oil for frying LOL. Yeah Peanut oil is the best if you can find it. Lard taste the best.
People have used olive oil to fry in for thousands of years.... and I use it to deep fry fish in my large cast iron pan. I KNOW canola and peanut (or even grape seed oil) is better because it has a higher burn point but if you are careful.... and with a bit of experience you'll get a good fry.

The important thing with using olive oil is to make sure there is no sediment in it for this will surely burn as you heat up the oil.
i do and contrary to your first answer, olive oil has a high burning point, that is why it is used to stir fry and such, when you want it as hot as you can get it............
