If it is labeled EVOO it should be the best of that brand. What is the best brand of extra virgin olive oil, and why%26gt;?
This is like asking what is your favorite wine. The answer is subjective: it depends.
The choice of extra virgin olive oil, made from the first initial pressing of olives, varies depending on many factors.
Geography: Italy, Greece, and Spain are probably the leading producers. Each has its own distinct flavor. Spanish oils tend to have a greener, zestier flavor. Grecian are more buttery.
Usage: For sauteing or frying, you want a clear oil without much sediment which could burn. For marinades and dressings select one darker in color which will impart more subtle flavor.
Processing: Ignore fancy bottles. Select a dark-glassed bottle. Any high quality olive oil will be sold in a tinted or dark glass. Olive oil is sensitive to light and will degrade over time. My preference is for ';cold or expeller-pressed'; oils. This means the oil is extracted by the natural crushing of the olive and not by chemical solvents which are residues in the oil.
Price: You can get good quality olive oil for a reasonable amount, but as with much in life, you get what you pay for.

Depends what your preparing but Bertolli all the way!!
Rich, green, and with a well-rounded, fruity taste, Extra Vergine is the most well balanced and versatile of the extra virgin olive oils. It鈥檚 a playful, lively flavour to blend with meats, fish and poultry.
It's really hard to tell from the label. FDA allows ';extra virgin'; labeling of cold pressed oils up to 4.5% acid content. I was recently on Crete, and the press coop was producing oil with an 0.25% acidity. That was some good stuff! Look for a label that discloses the acidity of the oil..
trader joe's.
- it's cheap
