Can you use first cold pressed olive oil to deep fry in?

someone told me you can't, but i don't know why not...Can you use first cold pressed olive oil to deep fry in?
You should not use olive oil for deep frying --- the reason being that olive oil has a smoke point of 375 degrees (lower for cold pressed). It will burn at any temperature above this point. Martha Stewart states on her website that she like to fry potatoes in olive oil --- Go figure. The Food Network website states that light olive oil has a higher smoke point.

Hope this helps! Can you use first cold pressed olive oil to deep fry in?
Olive oil is not for food frying, you lose taste and nutrients by doing so,therefore,i use canola oil for that.
A bad idea. Cold-pressed O O is for dressings, marinades and even garnish. If you would like to deep-fry, the best oils with the highest smoking points are: vegetable oil, canola oil, and peanut oil.
You can, but why waste good olive oil that way. Use a canola oil.
No you can not. Cold pressed, First pressed olive oil is used for flavoring only just like oriental sesame oil. Olive oil may have healthy benefits but, why spend a huge amount of money on olive oil to deep fry in when you can use vegetable oil. Many people forget that when heat is applied to food that the beneficial nutrients get broken down and loose their value. Simple chemestry really. The oil you are asking about is not processed oil and can not take the heat to make it hot. it breaks down at a low temperature, begins to smoke (burn) and then catch fire. First cold pressed olive oil is best used for salad dressings, sauces, bread dipping with balsamic vinegar, and other dishes and accompaniments not requiring lots of heat to prepare the dish.
No. It has too low a burning point, and not only it would be a waste but also its taste would be ruined.

Good olive oil should only be used from cold to hot (for sauteing), but do not use it for deep frying.
