Can you use olive oil in place of vegable oil for baking brownies and cake?

I just came from the store and was gonna make brownies and figured out i was out of vegable oil but i have olive oil thanksCan you use olive oil in place of vegable oil for baking brownies and cake?
No. You can use applesauce in place of oil or shortening in brownies, but it's not a good idea to substitute it in a cake. there may be exceptions, depending on the cake recipe though. Applesauce is a good way to make brownies low fat.Can you use olive oil in place of vegable oil for baking brownies and cake?
It will leave a different and out-of-place flavor in your baking. Other than that, it shouldn't act any differently.

But really, I'd wait until I had vegetable oil.
I think that you'll be able to taste the difference. Olive oil has a fairly distinctive flavor. If you're feeling brave, maybe it'll turn out really great. On the other hand... maybe the neighbors have some canola oil you could borrow or swap for some olive oil?
nope it wouldnt taste as good trust me. i did use once to make brownies...uggghhhh nope..nope..dont even try
I'm sure that there are folks out there with a super refined palate who could taste the difference, but as long as the cake has some other flavoring such as chocolate, you won't notice the difference.
Olive oil is really not used for baking unless it's an italian specialty. It will totally change thye taste of whatever your baking. Go buy vegetable, canola or corn oil for baking
Not a good idea. Olive oil is much better when used with pastas and other things. Otherwise, stick with the vegetable oil.
Don't do it! Melt some butter or oleo (can't spell margarine). Olive oil's taste doesn't blend well with sweets/chocolate.
yes, olive oil will work, might be a little difference in the taste, but maybe not. I've never used it in brownies
Not quite the same.
