Could we use Olive oil for cooking?

It has a distinct flavor, I wouldn't use it in something pancake batterCould we use Olive oil for cooking?
Yup, peanut oil is even better.Could we use Olive oil for cooking?
Personally, I'll use it occasionally to fry something ( I hardly ever fry anything tho) and will use it in a marinade or a light coat on something when I grill, and for salad dressings, but I wouldn't use it as a substitute for corn oil or canola oil in baking. Olive oil has a distinct flavor.
It's much healthier than corn oil. Just becareful if you deep fry in it because it gets hot real fast. keep the fire turned down low.
yes- understand that the flavor of the olive will be in the food that you will be cooking
not for cooking, it have a stout taste and too expensive to use like that.
yes why not?
Of course!
yes! there are several different varieties of Olive Oil. Ranging from Light to Extra Virgin. I keep only Extra Virgin in the cupboard, and use it all the time to cook, however, if you are going to cook on extremely 'high' heat, use a 'light' or 'reg' olive oil, as EVOO as a low smoking point. I NEVER use Olive Oil for baking (except for Olive Oil cake), because of it's flavor it generally doesn't jive with pastry flavors, I stick with Veg. or Canola in that case. Good LUck! :)
yep :)

cooking wut?
YES.
Olive oil is a great oil for cooking. Strong flavored olive oils can be used for frying fish or other strong flavored ingredients. A mellow late harvest Mission variety oil could be used in baking a cake. Olive oil has a high smoke point, 410 degrees F, and doesn't degrade as quickly as many other oils do with repeated high heating. Use a variety of healthy vegetable oils when preparing food and incorporate a good extra virgin olive oil when you want its health benefits and wonderful Mediterranean flavor.

Excellent website for all that you need to know about olive oil:

for frying things no. the oil will burn. you can use it for baking and other things but if you are going to deep fry something or if you're going to fry chicken then no.
Yes it tastes much better than most oils!
technically you can but dont get the pan too hot it has a low smoking point ,i dont know why someone just said it has a high smoke point??? also choose the right olive oil for cooking , some are best just for dressing things , some for cooking go to a good store and ask.
I use EVOO all the time (extra virgin olive oil). It's great to make sure things don't stick, and they don't really change the flavor of whatever you're cooking.
I always use extra virgin olive oil for cooking and for frying. Why bother with hydrogenated oils?

I've also used light extra virgin in my baking and never had a complaint. No one notices. (especially in brownies and cakes)

In Italy they fry in unfiltered olive oil I dunno why it's sucha taboo here.
yes, it has a higher heat resistance
Olive oil is good for everything, except for perhaps, cakes, which would require something less full-flavoured.
What else would you use it for. Cooking is the most commom use for olive oil. And it works well at high temps (doesn't burn to easy)
absolutely, but remember Oilve oil burns a a lower temperature that say Sunflower or Canola oil, so its not recommended for cooking steaks or deep frying.

Ideal for quick cooking meals, you will notice the taste difference
I do all the time.
Absolutely!
yes of course, however it can be a little more pricier than other cooking oils :)
absolutely.

That's what it's made for.
