Can I use extra virgin olive oil in boxed meals that call for butter or margarine such as Tuna Helper?

Yes - it will make it a bit more runny, but it will taste OK.

Eating butter and/or hydrogenated oils simply to make food less runny seems silly. I substitute olive oil for butter all the time. Can I use extra virgin olive oil in boxed meals that call for butter or margarine such as Tuna Helper?
NO! There is a subtle 'flavor' to extra virgin olive oil that would get 'lost' in cooking. If you are interested in maintaining good health, but occasionally want the ease of making Tuna Helper or Hamburger Helper, then get just olive oil ... it has less flavor and would help bring out the natural flavor of the tuna or hamburger and make those 'quick and easy' dinners much better tasting to all. Use a bit less of the oil than butter or margarine, though to get the 'best health' as well as the most flavor from your 'dish.'Can I use extra virgin olive oil in boxed meals that call for butter or margarine such as Tuna Helper?
If you want.

Though it'll taste better in some recipes than others.

Since you're not using the oil for pan-frying, merely flavor and texture, it's OK to substitute fats or leave the fat out altogether.
No because the olive oil isn't a 'solid' like butter and margarine are, plus butter and margarine are mostly water, so your meals will turn out greasy.

If the meal calls for a tablespoon of butter, then you could try adding two teaspoons of water and one teaspoon of olive oil and see how that works.
Yea of course. everyone knows extra virgin olive oil is a great substitute for butter or margerine. maybe you should learn to cook some decent food other than tuna.
No. They want you to use a solid, not a liquid. Olive oil will make it too greasy.
I just wouldn't use anything in it.I don't think it would hurt.
Yes
Yea Ithink that
