Is it safe to use olive oil in cooking?

I heard olive oil is bad to use in cooking, but very healthy to use raw (example, in salads.)

So... what's the deal with olive oil?Is it safe to use olive oil in cooking?
Extra virgin olive oil has a low smoke point and it burns very easily. Burnt oil is carcinogenic. Thats why it is considered bad to cook with.

Pommace olive oil, on the other hand, has a much higher smoke point and it is ok to cook with.Is it safe to use olive oil in cooking?
High quality extra-virgin olive oil, the kind that's very green and peppery, isn't a great choice for cooking because all the olive solids in it tend to burn. So-called ';pure'; olive oil, which is fairly highly filtered, is excellent for cooking, as it has all the health benefits of olive oil without the risk of burning.
Olive oil is good to use for some foods, but if use too much, or if you put it in some certain kinds of food, it can taste really weird!

I gave you a web-site about, cooking with olive oil.

Hope this helped!
You can use it for saute veggies or lighlty brown chicken or fish, how ever is not good for deep frying things, it burns really quick. but olive oil the extra virgin kind is full of omega 3 fatty oils, wich are good for your heart.
Basically it is still a fat, but an unsaturated one, so if I had to use a fat, this would be the one of choice in cooking or uncooked. Just use sparingly!!
You keep more of the nutritional benefit by not cooking it, but it is fine and healthy to cook with it. Same way with nuts; more nutritive raw, but fine roasted.
what, who told you that, you need to slap them for saying that..i cook for a living and i prefer to use olive oil over those synthetic oils or even vegetable oil..
Yes it good to cook with. To ease your mind I have included this link.

I use olive oil when I stir fry. It holds up better than other oils at high heat.
